Frequently Asked Questions

About Color Film Developing (C-41)

What color films do you develop?

We develop all standard C-41 color films including Kodak Gold, Portra, Ultramax, ColorPlus, Cinestill 400D and many others.

How long does C-41 development take?

3–5 working days.

Weekends and holidays are not counted as processing days.

Can you push or pull color film?

Yes. Push & Pull is available (+1€).

Please clearly write it on your order.

My colors look different than expected. Why?

Color depends on:

  • Exposure
  • Light temperature
  • Film stock
  • Push/pull
  • Scanning interpretation

We do not apply heavy automated filters like industrial minilabs.

Can you cross-process film?

Yes, but results are unpredictable. Cross-processing is experimental by nature.

About Black & White Developing

What black & white formats do you develop?
  • 35mm (135)
  • 120 medium format
  • 110 Pocket Film
  • Cinematic B&W
  • 4X5 Large Format

Why does my black & white look very grainy?

Grain depends on:

  • ISO
  • Underexposure
  • Push processing
  • Film stock choice

Grain is not a defect — it’s part of analog language.

Do you scan B&W differently than color?

Yes. Black & white requires different density interpretation and careful contrast control.

About Negatives & Storage

How long do you store negatives?

We store developed negatives for 2 months.

After 2 months, uncollected negatives will be disposed.

We always encourage you to pick them up — film is physical memory.

Why don’t you store negatives longer?

We previously had over 5,000 uncollected negatives.

We are an analog photo lab, not a storage facility.

Keeping thousands of forgotten negatives creates:

  • Physical storage problems
  • Environmental impact
  • Workflow delays

Please collect your film. Analog photography only makes sense if the negative matters.

What happens if I don’t pick up my order?

Any product ordered and not picked up within 3 months may be:

  • Disposed
  • Resold
  • Reintegrated into stock

This applies to:

  • Developed film
  • Prints
  • Scans on physical media
  • Cameras left for testing
  • Forgotten personal objects
  • Any item left in the shop
What about lost or forgotten objects?

Objects left in the shop are kept for up to 3 months.

After that, they may be:

  • Disposed
  • Donated
  • Resold

We cannot take long-term responsibility for unattended items.

Why is this policy strict?

Because we are a working lab with limited space.

Our goal is to develop film — not to accumulate forgotten materials.

Respecting pickup timelines helps us keep the studio organized and sustainable.
